In the series of images, I captured the glowing and pleasing summer time in the park where people and nature coexist in the state of harmony. The greenish nature, and the interplay of light and shadow evoke the love to summer. I got a new experience when I took photographs of people that I had to intervene in their private space which I call it as “safe circle”. If you get close to strangers they might notice you and feel nervous or interrupted. Due to the limitation of the simple use camera, I couldn’t distance myself from my subjects otherwise the exposure would be terrible. It actually gave me the opportunity to get close to my subjects and create more possibilities. In the process of shooting, I paid more attention to old people and children as a result of my observation that they were more lively and energetic than young people in the park. They had various activities to do in the park such as playing instruments, exercising, practising Tai Chi, playing Xiang Qi and so on. I am also obsessed with capturing the light and shadow, and the calm atmosphere of nature, which gives the feeling that I could hold a fleeting moment by clicking the shutter. Overall, the photographs present the delightful summertime in the park, and the park as an “urban oasis” provides a moment of calm for citizens in the rapid modernization process of the city.
